The U.S. Ryder Cup Team is Set
12 stars, one mission: reclaim the Ryder Cup

Overall, a pretty good team.
Maybe not our strongest, but plenty of elite players, along with some experience and a good helping of current form. It’s still a few weeks away, but I’m excited to see (most) of these guys playing in Napa week after next.
Three Quick Takes
I was VERY worried that Ben Griffin was going to get left out in the cold. If Keegan had chosen himself, I’m not 100% certain he would have been the name left off, but Bradley’s comments the other day had me shook.
Collin Morikawa is still a pretty good golfer, but clearly isn’t one of the 12 best men to represent the US right now. I understand that Keegan had made up his mind a while back to sit this one out, which leaves you with some hard choices to replace a guy in Collin who has a winning record in this event. Maybe a borderline guy with no experience (Mav, Gotterup) isn’t a big upgrade here, and it’s much ado about nothing.
Keegan did the right thing. A journalist asked him if he thought he would have been on the team if someone else were captain. He brushed it off as “we’ll never know,” but I think the answer is clearly yes, considering the year he had and where he is in relation to the other options. Still, a savvy move from the first-time captain.
As a whole, it’s like the football analogy for when the other team has a tough decision on fourth down. If they choose the option that you didn’t want them to, as the fan/bettor on the other side, it was probably correct. The same goes for these choices; as a person holding some Europe Wins bets, this could have gone better for me.
U.S. Team Captain Keegan Bradley ranked 11th in Ryder Cup points but opted not to pick himself for the 12-man team.
